Portal ensures the effective management and performance of the supply chain by regular meetings and reporting but also implementing initiatives such as the Portal Safety, Health and Environmental Performance Contractor Forum.
On the 13th of June 2013 the Portal SHE Committee onducted the first of what is hoped is a Bi-annual SHE Contractor Forum at their Dearne Valley site, there were attendees from G4S, CSG, ISS and Swinton Commercial.
The overarching aim of the event was to improve the collective SHE Culture and Performance of all the attending companies.
Topics included:
a) Thinking of ways to improve Safety, Health and Environmental performance
b) To look at attitudes and beliefs as organisations to drive forward change
c) To tap into the expert knowledge in the specialist fields of each contractor
d) To secure commitment to long term improvement and agree the way forward
e) To ensure any barriers to effective collaboration are overcome
f) To ensure Portal effectively understand, communicate and reflect our clients expectations
During the event there was constructive discussion about the Portal Group’s objectives and in particular the objective of zero accidents in the workplace. Portal’s management of suppliers is based upon a core principle of placing the utmost importance on Health and Safety in all aspects of service delivery.
Swinton Commercial gave an interesting and thought provoking presentation, giving an insight into the consequences of not doing enough to improve Safety Health and Environmental performance, explaining the very serious impact it can have socially, morally, physically and financially.
Portal intend to utilise these forums on a regular basis to ensure the high level of customer of satisfaction, retention and continual improvement continues across our nationwide portfolio of customer facilities.
