Occupier Solutions specialist attains compliance with ISO standards for quality and environmental management
Birmingham, 1st June 2010, Portal leaders in delivering innovative space and infrastructure solutions, are pleased to announce that they now meet the ISO 14001 Environmental (the international standard for Environmental Management Systems) and ISO 9001 Quality and Management (the international standard for Quality Management Systems).
Managing Director at Portal, John Gotley comments on the achievement, “I would like to offer my congratulations to everyone within the company who have worked hard to attain this recognition. Our clients demand that we deliver high quality sustainable accommodation solutions that adhere to the relevant environmental standards. Meeting these requirements demonstrates that we have the systems and processes in place to ensure that ‘best practice’ is applied across all our sites and that we have a culture for continual improvements both in what we offer to our clients and also what we expect from our suppliers.”
The compliance extends across all of Portal’s facilities located at; Birmingham, Glasgow, Rotherham, Nottingham, Chatham, Coventry and Leeds.
ISO 9001
Compliance with ISO 9001 provides objective proof that a business has implemented an effective quality management system, and that it satisfies all of the requirements of the applicable standard. An external, impartial expert called a registrar or CB (Certification Body) conducts an on-site audit to determine whether or not a company is in conformance with the standard. If they are found to be in conformance, they will be issued a certificate showing their address, scope of operations and the seals of the accreditation bodies that give the registrar its legitimacy.
ISO 14001
Compliance with ISO 14001 is evidence that an organisation has met the requirements of the ISO standard for Environmental Management Systems (EMS). The standard provides the framework for businesses to demonstrate their commitment to environmental responsibility. The goal of the ISO 14001 standard is to give the top management of any organisation a framework for managing environmental impacts. These include, adopting policies for dealing with waste, recycling, heating and other emissions.
